If you have any questions about this video, just call or text Healthy At 60 Plus, at 609-410-4790. Now let's see what we have today. The following is a list of what you should be eaten and what should be avoided if you want to improve your circulation and have a fulfilling sex life. Improving Circulation - The Best Foods. Cold-Water Fish. Fish is a great source of omega-3 fatty acids and protein. In fact, the American Heart Association recommends eating fish at least twice per week to maintain healthy levels of cholesterol to prevent heart disease. Cold water fish such as salmon, mackerel, herring, sardines, anchovies and trout are also high in DHA which is necessary for good brain function. Studies show that people who eat cold water fish regularly have better circulation than those who don't. Nuts and Seeds. Pumpkin seeds for example, might improve blood circulation to your sexual organs, which in turn boosts sexual performance and feelings of pleasure by improving the flow of blood into these sensitive areas. You can also enjoy almonds as a snack or use them as an ingredient in many recipes. Almonds are an excellent source of vitamin E and omega-3 fatty acids that improve metabolism and blood flow throughout the body. And they're high in protein to boot! Brazil nuts might be considered another great nut option for their antioxidant compounds and minerals like selenium that support healthy cells while protecting against damage from free radicals. Citrus. Citrus fruits, like lemons and oranges, are rich in antioxidants that positively affect circulation. One study found that the consumption of two glasses of orange juice per day can lower blood pressure; while another showed that a daily dose of Vitamin C-rich citrus is enough to cut bad cholesterol levels by up to 16%. Regular consumption also improves sexual health, as studies have shown these fruits boost testosterone production in men. Garlic. Garlic improves circulation by dilating blood vessels. This is done by boosting nitric oxide production from arginine and other vasoactive substances such as epinephrine, prostaglandins, acetylcholine and histamine. As an added bonus, garlic contains allicin which has been shown to be a natural anti inflammatory agent that can help with joint stiffness or arthritis pain. Beets. Beets are a rich source of phytonutrients that contribute to the health of your circulatory system. Including vegetables as part of a healthy diet can help reduce the risk for stroke and heart disease by up to 40%. The phytonutrient betalain has been linked with maintaining good moods and high energy levels, so it’s possible that beets may also improve sexual function. They promote vasodilation which increases blood flow where needed - not only to genitals but also to muscles and the brain! Dark Chocolate. Research shows that dark chocolate improves circulation through a number of effects, all of which are centered on releasing nitric oxide. For instance, dark chocolates have been found to release nitric oxide synthase enzymes and to make the capillaries wider. Improving Circulation - The Worst Foods. Added sugars. We all know that too much sugar is bad for our waistline, but new research suggests it might actually be bad for our heart. A study done by Harvard University found that a high-sugar diet can lead to elevated levels of triglycerides and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, which are both known risk factors for cardiovascular disease. Trans Fats. Trans fats are saturated fatty acids that have been hydrogenated so that they become a solid fat. This is commonly done because the process can increase the amount of shelf-life for processed foods, and it's cheaper than other processed alternatives. Excessive Salt. Try not to eat too much salt This presentation contains images that were used under a Creative Commons License. Click here to see the full list of images and attributions:
